Very young kids and restaurants often don’t get along very well. Children playing with toys, or coloring pictures or, these days, watching a mobile phone screen are all methods used by stressed out parents trying to keep their kids still and engaged. Even then these tricks don’t always work.
Luckily, Cuba is a child-friendly place and has various options for traveling families. These are three restaurants in Havana that children will love.
1. Living Havana
Parents get a full view of the outdoor playground from the dining tables at Living Havana, so you can watch your little bundle of love playing safely while you chow down on some of their delicious sandwiches, hamburgers, hotdogs, pizzas, pastas and salads. They also have kids menus, natural juices and ice cream. The first and third Saturday of each month (from 3 to 6 p.m.), they have children’s parties with clowns, magicians and puppeteers, among other surprises.

2. 28 y Mar
Known as the Chuchería de Playa, this is one of the most popular fast food restaurants in Havana. They have a big playground with swings and slides in the front of this beautiful house with great sea views. Elaborate sandwiches are the specialty, but they also offer pizzas, burgers, breakfasts and tapas.

3. El Gelato
This ice cream shop (with more than 30 flavors) is naturally a magnet for kids, but they also have a few small tables and a little house where children can play. It’s also great for grownups who, in the beating heat of the summer, might require a little refreshment with the help of some Italian ice cream. The place also offers exquisite croissants and spectacular cakes to go.
