La Carboncita brings Italian flare with all the trimmings to an opulent area in Miramar. This is the most modernly styled Italian restaurant we’ve reviewed so far. Its cobbled green pavement leads up to a green- and white-colored airy eatery, which is divided into outdoor and indoor seatings. This is a great place for a laid-back lunch, with fans to keep the space ventilated, and there are several air-conditioned rooms inside to fend off Cuban summer heat. The patio, shrouded under a canopy of wild petunias, is a nice place for coffee, tapas and cocktails if you are looking for intimacy and romance. There is also a terrace on the second floor that opens only at night. Pasta with Frutti di Mare and fettuccine with fresh tomato sauce are the stars on the menu. There’s a diverse selection of pastas that can be paired with roughly 20 choices of sauces on the menu, enough to keep guests interested. The service is fast and staff are young and speak good English. The pizza from Italian chef Walter Cinevri really delights. Reserve in advance for the terrace in the evening.
