You can fairly easily imagine the European tourists looking at us, then at each other, and saying “they’re back….” As more Americans go to Cuba, tips are creeping up. 15% is becoming standard, and personnel increasingly expect CUC. Some restaurants add 10% to the bill for service, but staff don’t necessarily see that. So a tip is always a nice way to show appreciation for good service. Bellmen, hotel porters, and parking attendants (parqueadores) generally expect a small tip, usually about $1 CUC. Some restrooms (especially in gas stations, state-owned restaurants, hotels, bars, and theaters) have attendants who dispense toilet paper – $0.25 CUC is an adequate tip for this rather necessary service.
