This is an interesting subject. You can fairly easily imagine the European tourists looking at us, then at each other, and saying “they’re back….” As more Americans go to Cuba, tips are creeping up. 15% is becoming standard, and personnel increasingly expect CUC. Some restaurants add 10% to the bill for service, but staff don’t necessarily see that. So a tip is always a nice way to show appreciation for good service. Bellmen, hotel porters, and parking attendants (parqueadores) generally expect a small tip, usually about $1 CUC. Some restrooms (especially in gas stations, state-owned restaurants, hotels, bars, and theaters) have attendants who dispense toilet paper – $0.25 CUC is an adequate tip for this rather necessary service.
