Microbreweries are catching on in Havana, and Cervecería Antiguo Almacen de la Madera y el Tabaco is at the forefront. It serves the best beer in town. Just on the docks of Havana Bay near an artisan market, the brewery has an open taproom where guests can view the entire brewing process. It serves three tasty home brewed beers – lager, medium and dark – and we tried the lager, which is great with honey and citrus notes. Really nicely done. They also have an open grill for chicken, pork and beef. Prices are extremely reasonable, and the beef burger ($2.5 CUC) is definitely one of the best in town, although service is slow. Be prepared to wait for 30 minutes or more for your order as this place is really short handed. During the night, there’s live music performances, but outside on the dock is really where you can burn the night, chatting with friends while watching the beautiful night view of Havana.
