Established in 1995, around the same time as La Guarida, La Fontana in Miramar endured through the years and worked its way up to become what people now are referring to as the “celebrity kitchen,” where American A-list stars such as Beyoncé, Jay-Z and Rhianna flocked for the city’s best grill. You can tell owner Ernesto Blanco is serious about its reputation. The open charcoal grill, in the corner of the dining room, is where the seasoned chef attends to the meat and fish in a rhythmical, paced manner. The tender, crispy skinned red snapper is great. Try the octopus with pesto sauce as well. The pork ribs are fantastic, and the serving size is really generous. Don’t forget to order the daiquiri here, one of the best in town. This flora-and-fauna themed paladar has a bar/lounge, an air-conditioned dining room and the open dining room. There’s music performances during the night, but the bar was largely empty the night of our visit – maybe a function of the June showers. Many of the patrons here are visiting American groups.
