This pleasant restaurant, which opened a little over a year ago, sits right across from the Melia Cohiba Hotel and facing Havana’s famous seafront Malecon, in Vedado. Once inside, the crisp modern and contemporary decor may make it hard to think you’re still in Havana.
The space is distributed between a sleekly-decorated main dining room, with abstract pieces hanging from the walls on one side, and a glassed-off kitchen where you can see the chefs at work. Constant flares from the cook’s pans illuminate the face of the guests. The bar has a terrace, overlooking the iconic Malecon, where guests can enjoy one of the many serious cocktails on offer. The food is mostly international, with appetizers ranging from a fresh gazpacho to vegetable tempura to the omnipresent ceviche. While various cuts of meat were available, the sirloin is a stand-out. The fresh-spaghetti Bolognese was perfect the night we went. Service is swift and discreet, but not excessively attentive.
